Breeding Information
Bill has 12 years experience on the
farm in Equine Reproduction. He completed
courses in Equine Reproductive Management
and Artificial Insemination at Colorado State
University and in Advanced Equine
Reproductive Management & Ultrasonography at Texas
A&M University.
We feed 11% oats,
14% horse feed or combination of both and alfalfa twice daily, depending on
your
horse's needs. We have individual turnouts
for outside mares and foals to insure their safety. We also
have a covered area in the barn, used during bad
weather, to insure the mares and foals get
out for
a few hours and play. Our utmost goal is to
return your mare in foal while keeping her healthy
and happy.
We ultrasound mares every other day to
ensure your mare is building "breedable"
follicles,
and breed every other day until the mare has
ovulated. We have a 95% conception rate on site!
We collect every other day, and evaluate
the semen at every collection. Using our
reproductive lab on
site, we perform a semen count, check for
motility and viability with each collection. This tells
us how many mares we can breed on the ranch
and how many we are able to ship to. We
handle the
mares and stallions ourselves because we want to be
sure things are done right. We treat your mare
and foal like they are our own. We learned
a lesson about our mares being bred the hard way,
after seeing how ours were taken care of off our
ranch while being bred. It doesn't take any
more
effort to do it right.
